Worship at St. Thomas

Sundays

“O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness; let the whole earth stand in awe of Him.” (Psalm 96:9)

St. Thomas is blessed with a beautiful liturgy from the Episcopal Church’s Book of Common Prayer (which can be found online here.) The Book of Common Prayer is our worship book; it includes timeless services, prayers, and songs from the earliest days of the Church and also more modern worship that speaks to God anew.

At our Church, we have what is known as a Rite I Holy Communion service at 10 am on Sundays. This means that we take communion once a week and that you will hear “thee” and “thou” quite a bit during the service. It is one of the most beautiful and reverential ways to worship God, and though it takes some getting used to, we provide helpful bulletins and the folks sitting next to you will help you if you need it!

Our service is about an hour long, including a 10-to-15-minute sermon; and on the first Sunday of the month, we enjoy a fantastic potluck together after church!

Wednesdays

“I will bless the Lord who giveth me counsel; my heart teacheth me, night after night. I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not fall.” (Psalm 16:7-8)

On Wednesday evenings at 6 pm, St. Thomas gathers for Evening Prayer. This is a short (15- or 20-minute) worship service in which we read Scripture and pray for our needs and the needs of the world.

After Evening Prayer, we enjoy a supper with wine and cheese. It is a wonderful time of joy and fellowship in the Lord and we invite you to come check it out!

Feasts and Fasts

“We give thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light.” (Colossians 1:12)

Our Church Calendar also provides for special celebrations of God’s grace throughout the year. This includes the Christmas and Easter seasons, but also other special days, such as the Epiphany, Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, All Saints’ Day, and the Feast Day of St. Thomas. Look out for these days in our calendar!
